Crochet and knitting pricing calculator
A calculator tuned for crochet and knitting. Labour is usually the largest cost, so time yourself honestly and use an hourly rate you would accept for skilled work — the calculator turns that into a retail price your marketplace fees have not eaten.

Costs makers often forget
- Yarn used, including partial skeins
- Filling or stuffing for amigurumi and cushions
- Findings: safety eyes, buttons, zips
- Assembly time such as sewing pieces together
- Finishing time: blocking, weaving in ends, tagging
- Packaging, tissue and labels
A simple worked example
A single hand-knit beanie
If a beanie takes 6 hours at 20 per hour and 8 of yarn, labour alone is 120 and materials 8. A 40% target margin then sets a retail price that keeps that wage after marketplace fees — often higher than makers first expect, which is the point.
